Harbour View, MoBay in four-goal draw
In a matchup that saw the 'Stars of the East' take on longstanding bastions of the west, Harbour View and Montego Bay United played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League (JPL) action at Harbour View Mini Stadium.
MoBay United played most of the second half with 10 players.
It was a brace apiece for both teams as Trayvon Reid netted in the 10th and 45th minutes for Harbour View, while MoBay's Lucas Lima found the back of the net in the 39th and 82nd minutes.
Harbour View were looking to continue their good fortune following a win over Mount Pleasant Football Academy in their most recent outing, but could not find the edge to topple the league leaders.
Reid opened the scoring early for the home team. But they found themselves level once again as Lima pulled one back for MoBay just after the half-hour mark.
Not to be denied, Reid again gave Harbour View the lead with a strike just before the half-time whistle.
MoBay came out firing in the second half but saw their chances take a heavy hit when Kimani Arbouine was shown a straight red card on the hour-mark.
Despite a numerical disadvantage, MoBay went searching for the equaliser and found purchase when Lima secured his double in the final 10 minutes of the contest.
With the result, MoBay extended their lead atop the standings to seven points as they sit with 47, ahead of second-place Portmore United with 40.
Harbour View, on the other hand, put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone as they sit 11th with 21 points, one point clear of Molynes United, 20, and three points clear of the drop.
In the other game of the afternoon, Dunbeholden got the better of Treasure Beach 4-2 in a six-goal thriller at Dunbeholden Sports Complex.
Damion Binns was a hat-trick hero for the hosts as his three goals, along with a lone strike from Stephen Barnett, led them to victory.
Treasure Beach found their goals through Raheem Porter and Lajon Livingstone.
Dunbeholden, with their win, move to 28 points and sit seventh, two points off from Waterhouse, who currently sit sixth in the final playoff spot with 30.
Treasure Beach slumped to a second consecutive defeat, and seven games without a win, as they sit in the relegation zone with 18 points.
Action in the JPL will continue tomorrow as Racing United take on Chapelton Maroons at 5 p.m., before Arnett Gardens face Spanish Town Police in Monday Night Football.
Both games will be played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
