Lamar Odom charged for DUI in Las Vegas

Lamar Odom has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in Las Vegas.

The 46-year-old former basketball star was apprehended in the early hours of Saturday morning on a DUI charge and two traffic violations, court records show.

Lamar, who was previously married to reality star Khloe Kardashian, is accused of driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and making an improper lane change/or having a failure to maintain his lane.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star -- who was previously arrested for DUI in 2013 -- has been open about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction and almost lost his life after overdosing on cocaine, alcohol and cannabis at a Las Vegas brothel in 2015.

Writing about the ordeal in his 2019 book Darkness to Light, Odom wrote: "My heart stopped twice. I had 12 seizures and six strokes. My lungs collapsed and my kidneys ruptured. I was on life support. Everyone I'd ever loved was looking at me through bleary eyes.

"(The overdose) made me realise I couldn't live the way I'd been living."

Lamar married Kardashian after just one month of dating in 2009, but The Kardashians star knew she had to file for divorce four years later following a "pivotal moment" during a conversation when the sports star was in the grip of addiction.
