Notnice wishes ‘Merry Christmas from Yard’
As the holiday season approaches, Grammy Award-winning producer Notnice is hoping to spread Yuletide cheer with the release of his four-track Christmas project, 'Merry Christmas from Yard'.
Featuring a stellar line-up of dancehall stars, including Jah Vinci, D'Yani, Nordia Mothersille, as well as the producer's AI-generated artiste, S'riah, the project aims to uplift spirits while still celebrating the country's rich musical legacy. With the country still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Melissa, Notnice said Merry Christmas from Yard comes at the ideal time, as Jamaicans want something to feel good about. He said he does not doubt that the songs he and his team have created can do just that.
"This Christmas felt like the right moment to give the people something uplifting. After everything Jamaica has been pushing through in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, I wanted to bring back a little joy, warmth and togetherness through the music. Merry Christmas from Yard is my way of reminding the island that even in rebuilding, we still have our culture, our creativity and our spirit," he said.
He added that each artiste on the project brings a different vibe and that the songs encapsulate heartfelt emotions, festivity, as well as pure dancehall energy.
"Fans can expect a feel-good soundtrack for the season that still sounds authentically Jamaican," Notnice said.
Mothersille chimed in, "Being part of this project means a lot to me, especially at a time when the country is rebuilding and leaning on hope."
"Christmas has always been about comfort and togetherness, so I wanted my contribution to feel warm, sincere and uplifting. Notnice created a space for us to share that spirit through music, and I'm grateful to add my voice to something that can bring a little peace and positivity to Jamaica this season," she added.
The project also aims to reflect Notnice's broader commitment to giving back, after he and his team partnered with Lion Pride Jamaica and other corporate supporters to deliver essential relief supplies to more than 100 families hardest hit by the category 5 Melissa last month.
"With Merry Christmas from Yard, we not only deliver a festive soundtrack for the season, but also send the heartfelt message that even amid challenges, music remains a powerful force for joy, unity, and resilience," said Notnice.
