President of the Jamaica Olympics Association (JOA), Christopher Samuda, has praised Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts, and thrown his support behind Jamaica's bid with the USA, Costa Rica, and Mexico to host the 2031 Women's World Cup (WWC).

The bid from the four Concacaf nations was announced this week, with Ricketts stating that they are very hopeful and optimistic of putting together a truly memorable experience for players and fans.

Samuda pointed out that Jamaica's involvement at this level is a reflection of the significant impact the nation's football is having, both male and female, internationally, and he thinks it is a stellar move on the part of the JFF, and that if successful, it will have enormous benefits for Jamaica in numerous ways.

"It may not be a haul in strict football terms, but I tell you, for Jamaica, its bid with the USA, Costa Rica, and Mexico to host games of the Women's World Cup is a quadruple shot of class," he declared.

"This is the screamer that Jamaica has always wanted to score, to complement the admirable successes that our women and the female programme have earned, and our men have achieved."

Samuda said Ricketts and his staff should take a bow for this, as the financial and commercial rewards will be immeasurable.

"I must congratulate the members of the Jamaica Football Federation, and their partners and applaud the Michael Ricketts-led federation for a visionary move that undoubtedly will give Jamaica more capital and brand value.

"My earnest hope is that Jamaica will be in Los Angeles in 2028 for the Olympic Games, as a precursor to our arrival in 2031 (World Cup)," Samuda added.
